Taurus is the second sign of the zodiac, lasting from approximately 21 April to approximately 21 May.
Most Taureans are practical, careful and capable. They like to take life in their stride, and dislike rushing about. Strong, stable, steady and dependable people, with a placid nature that is poised and controlled is typical Taurus; but there is another side to the Taurean character that displays a strong sense of obstinacy if their principles are questioned. The Taurean temper is not easily aroused, but when provoked this sign, symbolised by the Bull, can be fiery, difficult, and stubborn.
Usually, however, Taurus subjects are easy-going, romantic, and strongly attracted to the opposite sex. Usually they are patient, charming, and very affectionate people, but they can be jealous and possessive. As a rule they are kind and considerate people, with a flair for entertaining their friends in a generous manner. They enjoy opportunities to mix business with pleasure, because they are fairly ambitious as a rule, and like to achieve their aims.
As an earth sign, Taurus people are usually happier living in the country, close to Mother Earth, and many find contentment when tending a garden and nurturing plants. Like the other Venus subjects (Librans), Taureans often show talent in art and design, and many have a liking and aptitude for music, singing, acting and culture. This sign has a strong sense of self-preservation, and rarely takes risks. Taureans value security, both in personal relationships and in their business life. They make adept business people with the ability to make money - and hold on to it! They like working to a plane, and will not change their ways or opinions.
If a Taurus person fails to realise ambitions early in life, the struggle will continue, until a goal is reached. Taureans will never give up trying, and eventually they are likely to succeed by perseverance and determination.
In the Age of Aquarius, Taureans could become more involved with home and private life, with increased interest in houses, land, real estate and gardens.
The ruling planet of Taurus, with which it has a special relationship, is Venus; it is a fixed feminine, earth sign. Positive traits include reliability, patience, practicality, endurance, affection, trustworthiness, determination and strength of will. Negative traits include possessiveness, inflexibility, stubbornness, self-indulgence and the tendency to bore.
